The legaltech book

Offering an entry point to examine the current state of new digital technologies in law, The LegalTech book provides an accessible overview of the legal sector covering a broad range of topics. I see this collection serving two purposes; (i) reaching a wide audience of legal practitioners of varying techno-skill levels and (ii) building interest around the practical implementation of either current or forthcoming innovations in legal practice.

The authors seem to implicitly ask, ‘will the practice of law look different than it does now in 2 – 5 – 10 years?’ The answer is a resounding ‘Yes!’.

The COVID-19 Pandemic has forced the legal sector to change – radically – and it is not reasonable to believe this forward momentum will stop.

The LegalTech book is valuable because it provides insight into the field, tackling topics like Law and Data (Chapter 2), Technology vs Law (Chapter 3), Access to Justice (Chapter 6) and the Future of Legal Technology (Chapter 8) , or by looking into a specific technology application like AI (Chapter 1), Cryptocurrencies (Chapter 4), or Smart Contracts (Chapter 5).

As a reference resource that is short and to the point, this book is a highly recommended primer on legal tech. It’s one that I’m sure I’ll return to as I wade deeper into the space. The digital transformation is certainly redefining the legal sector, this book will help you stay current.
